Carleton Place, Ont., Vet receives Dominion President’s Coin – At the Carleton Place Branch Veterans Dinner Dominion President Bruce Julian presented WWII Airforce Veteran Gord Standing with the Dominion President’s Coin. Gord is 102 years young.

Orleans supports Vets in Perley Health with BIG Donation – Orleans Branch gave a Big injection of Love from the Poppy Fund to Perley Health. the funds will be used for equipment in order to meet the medical and physical needs of our Veterans in that facility in Ottawa.

Goderich, Ont., member celebrates 100th birthday – Veteran Alice Lyons is surrounded by members of the Goderich Branch in celebration of her 100th birthday. Known to many as ‘Pinky’, Alice served with the CWAC in Kingston as Quartermaster during the Second World War. Happy Birthday Alice!

Support for Veterans Transition – The Good Shepherd Ministry in Toronto has a Veterans Housing Navigation Team. This team includes experienced social workers and support workers that can help Veterans that at homeless or at risk of being homeless. 1st VP Lynn McClellan and President Derek Moore present $136,741 to Aklilu Wendaferew exec. director and his team.

Veterans Transition Network – Ontario Command President Derek Moore (right) presents $108,000 to the Veterans Transition Network . They offer group counselling to Veterans designed specifically for them to overcome difficulties in their lives such as trauma, improve mental health and transition from solider to civilian.

Big Dollars for Service Dogs partnered with Wounded Warriors – Our Partnership with Wounded Warriors and Operation Service Dog raise money to provide therapy dogs for injured Veterans. President Derek Moore accompanied by 1st VP Lynn McClellan presents $400,000 to Operation Service Dog, Director Health Services for Wounded Warriors Canada Phil Ralph (centre). To date Ontario Command and its branches have provided $1,275,000 to the program since 2018.

Who’s a Good Dog – At 16 weeks of age, Viking is the newest enrolled dog in the Operation service dog program. The dogs are trains with K-9 Country Inn in Meaford, Ont.

Half Million Dollars to Sunnybrook Cenotaph – The Sunnybrook Veterans Centre is working on refurbishing their cenotaph located on Bayview Avenue where wreath laying ceremonies are held during Remembrance Day each year. Ontario Command has committed $500,000 over the next 5 years. Philanthropy Direcotr Linda Bryson accepted the first installment.
